What is the easiest way to increase revenue in your business?

Retailing! Yes, selling to your clients (strategically) will help you earn more money. But how? Simple, start selling products that are in line with your services, to increase the results of the service provided.

  • Increase Revenue: spending a few extra minutes selling an aftercare product can significantly increase your earnings per treatment. For example: a 1-hour service earns you $95 in revenue. Spend an additional 5 minutes selling a product, and that can potentially increase your revenue by an additional $15-$30. You have just earned more for that service, without additional hands-on work. This means HIGHER PROFITS!
  • Builds Trust: Educating your client about the service is just as important as informing them of the proper aftercare. This doesn’t mean you’re being pushy with sales. Instead you’re showing your product knowledge, which your clients will appreciate. Plus, when a client uses proper aftercare, your job will be easier when they return.
  • Client Retention: When the products you sell your clients are effective, your client will trust you, which means more return clients. More return clients means higher revenue. See, it’s coming full circle!

Here are some tips for successful retailing:

  •  Don’t sell products you yourself wouldn’t trust; research what you want to retail, and try it out first.
  •  Get a seller’s permit (in states that require it). When you buy as a re-seller, you avoid state taxes on these purchases.
  •  Open wholesale accounts with your vendors and get lower prices. This increases your profits!
  •  Make sure it’s within your budget so you don’t overspend on retail, leaving you with little cash-flow.
  •  Price your retail products accurately. Typically at least 50% higher than the purchase price.
  •  Keep an accurate inventory count. You can use a spreadsheet. I prefer keeping track in my booking system.
  •  Pay sales tax back to the state so you don’t get in trouble and lose your sellers permit.
  •  Most importantly! TALK ABOUT THE PRODUCTS TO YOUR CLIENTS! If you don’t educate them, they won’t buy.

Here are a few of my favorite retail items:
